Ian's bid to help baby unit is all in his kiss.

The kissing booth has been brought into the digital age as a Lincoln father-of-two tries to raise money by selling a smooch online.

Ian Anderson, 32, a labourer from Lincoln’s West End, is selling the loving kiss on popular online auction site eBay.

All the money raised will be donated to the special care baby unit at Lincoln County Hospital.

Mr Anderson explained that the kiss auction started out as a bit of a joke, but when he saw his friend’s newborn baby boy Sebastian in the unit, he was inspired to donate any money raised towards the cause.

“What they were doing at the hospital was amazing,” he said.

“It really got me when I went to see baby Sebastian. The nurses and staff on the ward were incredible.

“They were right there to make sure everything was OK, and were there to answer any questions and make sure everyone felt comfortable.

“The kiss on eBay thing started as a joke between a friend and me, saying that you could pretty much sell anything on eBay.

“But it’s a little bit more serious now. If I can get anything, even if it’s just a tenner, than I can donate it to this neonatal unit and help in some small way.”

The father-of-two has also had experience first hand with neonatal care, as both his daughters were admitted into a special care in Hereford County Hospital.

“If anyone has had experience with a baby in a special care unit, then maybe they can sympathise and understand the level of work and care they do.”

Mr Anderson went on to describe the nurses he witnessed looking after baby Sebastian as “templates of God”.

Sebastian Foster was born two months prematurely in the early hours of the morning last Wednesday, and was instantly admitted to the Special Care Baby Unit in a critical state.

His mother, Denise Ranyard, said that the nurses and staff on the ward were doing a fantastic job in caring for her and her newborn son.

“I’ve had friends who have gone through this, but you don’t really know what it’s like till you experience it first hand,” she said.

“Now I’ve had that first hand experience, I can see how hard the staff work to keep things ticking over.

“They really need all the help they can get, and what Ian is doing is fantastic. Every little bit will help them up here.

Bidding ends on the charity kiss this Sunday at 10pm. To find and bid, search for auction item 180401307806.

Mr Anderson also said he would take smaller donations if the bid for the kiss was unable to be matched. For more information, contact him on iananderson77@hotmail.co.uk.
